A judge appointed Tito Jackson’s son “TJ” Wednesday as a temporary guardian of Michael Jackson’s children. In addition, the judge temporarily suspended Katherine Jackson as the children’s guardian because she is in Arizona and hadn’t spoken with them in several days.
TJ Jackson appeared in court and sought the temporary appointment, but his attorney said he wasn’t trying to replace Katherine Jackson permanently.
TJ Jackson said he spoke with Katherine Jackson on Tuesday, but she sounded strange. He says she was using words he had never heard her use and her voice at times sounded slurred.
The appointment came after days of turmoil among the Jackson family, with a relative reporting Katherine Jackson missing before she was located safely with other family members in Arizona.
Katherine had high blood pressure before she left Los Angeles and the spa visit was said to have helped her, but TJ didn’t think it helped the children.
Before listening to TJ’s petition, Judge Mitch Beckloff handled over MJ Estate matters. He initially would not hear TJ’s petition because Diana Ross, Katherine’s successor under Michael’s will, was not notified.
TJ’s lawyer, Charles Schultz said that Katherine was unavailable and they want a temporary guardianship so Ross is unnecessary. Schultz also said that there was an “incident” at the Calabasas house last night that escalated. He said TJ is not sure that Katherine is acting voluntarily.
Katherine’s other lawyer, Sandra Ribera, said that she had been to the house several times and believed she was being held against her will.
The judge ordered that Jackson’s three children not be removed from California without a court order. The judge added that TJ should file a petition for permanent guardianship and in addition to giving Diana Ross notice, they have to give Debbie Rowe notice.
He then granted TJ’s petition to become the temporary guardian of the children, and also suspended Katherine’s guardianship.
Before he made the decision, TJ’s lawyer said he had a strange phone call with Katherine and TJ said: “I’ve never heard my grandmother talk like that. She wasn’t sharp. The pauses, choice of vocabulary … she has not used certain phrases like that before.” TJ said he thought she was talking in code and was choking up at the time.
Beckloff said this was not a power play by TJ and ordered the Estate to give him the money necessary to take care of security and anything else needed for the children. Before the decision was made, the lawyer for Jackson’s kids said they all supported him becoming their temporary guardian. The lawyer for the Estate added that the executors were worried about the children and Katherine.
The judge said Katherine was not suspended for doing anything wrong, but was prevented from doing her job by “intentional act from third parties.”
I know MJ is rolling around in his grave!!
