In the second insider attack, or “green on blue” attack in June by an Afghan soldier against coalition led forces, varying reports have stated that four or seven US Army soldiers were injured and the shooter, an Afghan soldier, was killed.” and another statement stated that,
“We are aware of an incident that occurred at Camp Shaheen in Mazar-e Sharif at approximately 2 p.m local time.
At this time we can confirm there are no U.S. or NATO Resolute Support fatalities. U.S soldiers have been wounded. One Afghan soldier was killed and one was wounded in the incident.
The incident is currently under investigation.”
Initial reports of the four US soldiers being killed were incorrect.
This comes just a week after four US Army soldiers were killed in an insider attack in Achin, Afghanistan.
According to sources, the attack took place at in norther Afghanistan at Camp Shaheen in Mazar-e Sharif.
Earlier this June three US Army soldiers were killed by an insider attack in Achin, Afghanistan. In that attack, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement that a Taliban loyalist had infiltrated the Afghan army “just to attack foreign forces.”
Military Times is reporting that “an official at the Afghan Embassy in Washington D.C., an Afghan soldier fired an RPG at international troops during a training exercise involving the Afghan 209 Corps.”
