Nicholas Minor, three, died after being hit by a car which rolled down his grandfather’s driveway
A three-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car which rolled down his grandfather’s driveway as he was playing nearby.
Nicholas Minor died in hospital on Wednesday four days after being run over at his grandfather’s house in Middletown, Ohio.
His grandfather Mark Minor, 60, was also hit trying to save him from the car as it rolled towards him. He remains in hospital.
The tragedy unfolded when John Marshall Jr, 48, brought the 2000 Grand Marquis to Mr Minor’s house to sell it to him on February 24.
He parked it on the driveway with a brick behind one wheel to stop it from rolling backwards, The Journal News reported.
When Marshall put the car into gear to start it, it jumped the brick and hurtled downhill.
Mr Minor attempted to push his grandson out of its way but both were hit by the car and taken to hospital.
Nicholas remained in intensive care for several days while his family rallied around him and asked for prayers that he would recover. The toddler died on March 1.

Mr Minor remains in hospital. Nicholas’s father, Chris, told friends he was ‘having a rough time’.
Mr Marshall is not facing any charges. Police ruled the tragedy a ‘freak accident’.
Friends of the Minor family are now raising money to help them meet Nicholas’s funeral costs.
‘No one plans to bury their baby and costs of doing so can be overwhelming,’ friend Ammie Smith Kennedy said in a description of a GoFundMe page.
