On October 7th, 3-year old Sherin Mathews of Richardson, TX was left outside of her home at 3 a.m. by her adoptive father Wesley Mathews. He said he was punishing her, “because she wouldn’t drink her milk.” The child ended up going missing and Mr. Mathews failed to notify police that she was gone for five hours. After being questioned, he was arrested and charged with abandoning or endangering a child.
Yesterday, detectives discovered the body of a small child near the Mathews residence who they say is “more than likely” Sherin Mathews. According to Sgt. Kevin Perlich, the body was found around 11 a.m. Sunday morning in a culvert (tunnel) beneath a road. No arrests have been made in connection to the discovery.
Sherin’s parents have been notified of the discovery and the cause of death has yet to be determined.
