Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky thrilled fans with his first preseason game for the team Thursday night, but Chicagoans weren’t the only ones who took notice.
A pair of Bears legends weighed in on the performance of Trubisky, who threw for 166 yards and a touchdown in his first appearance in a Bears uniform. Former Bears coach Mike Ditka told TMZ Sports that he believes Trubisky should be the Bears’ starting quarterback when the season starts.
“You’ve got problems,” Ditka said when asked about the Bears choosing Mike Glennon over Trubisky as the starter. “What I saw out of Trubisky for a rookie in his first game I thought was outstanding. It’s clear cut he should be your starter.”
Ditka wasn’t the only Bears legend to weigh in on Trubisky’s performance. Former Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was also watching the game, and he lent his support to the rookie on Twitter:

A quarterback controversy could brew in Chicago if Trubisky continues to shine and Glennon continues to struggle. Glennon only completed two passes and threw an interception in his first start for the Bears, who lost to the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.
