Barneys has canceled a launch party for Jay Z’s “A New York Holiday” due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

And by “unforeseen circumstances” they mean the racial profiling allegations brought by two Black shoppers who claimed they had been unlawfully detained after making purchases at the high end retailer and the backlash that followed.

Earlier this week Jay Z released a statement saying he was moving forward with the collection in spite of the allegations and that 100% of the proceeds from his collection would benefit the Shawn Carter Foundation and that 10% of all Barneys sales on Nov 20 would also be donated to his foundation.

The “Empire State of Mind” rapper also plans to take on leadership role on a council reviewing the customer profiling policies at Barneys.
