On Saturday a tornado ripped through Texas claiming the lives of a least four people and injuring dozens of other residents.
According to Fox News, the Canton Fire Department said that of those five people that have been confirmed dead, one of those people were in a vehicle and the tornado “tossed it along Highway 64 in Canton.”
Capt. Brian Horton said, “We’re talking about I think maybe five casualties. That number may go up … once we can get into these areas.”
As a result, the tornado left behind a trail of damaged homes, dismantled trees, and overturned vehicles.
ETMC Regional Healthcare Systems hospitals in the area reportedly received about 54 patients after the storm; one of those patients was listed in critical condition. A spokesperson said the injuries to the other patients were not life threatening.
The extent of the damage done to the area is unknown at the moment, but the National Weather Service confirmed that three tornados went through parts of three countries on Saturday.
The storm that went through Canton, TX “grew to up to a half-mile wide as it teared up a 40-mile path.”
We send our prayers to those affected by the storm.
