April the giraffe’s newborn son took his first steps early Saturday afternoon after months of waiting for the calf to be born.
Zookeepers at Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, New York, sent out the alert that the 15-year-old giraffe was about to give birth on Saturday morning.
Within 30 minutes of being born, the baby struggled for a while to get to his feet as his knees buckled beneath him.
Eventually, he was able to stand up, and later took a few steps around the pen he’s currently sharing with April.
