A Texas teen recently came forth and admitted that she lied about being kidnapped and raped by three black men.
She now faces a misdemeanor charge of making a false report to a police officer.
According to the New York Daily News, Breana Harmon Talbott, 18, was reported missing by her fiancé earlier this month. He reportedly found her car with its door open and also “personal effects,” such as her cell phone close by.
Talbott later reappeared the same day in the city of Denison. She interrupted the service at a local church by walking in with visible scratches and wearing only a shirt, bra, and underwear.
The 18-year-old told police that she was abducted and taken to a wooded area near the church. She claimed to have been gang-raped by “three black males,” wearing ski masks.
Medical examiners could not confirm that Talbott had been sexually assaulted.
In a statement released by police on Wednesday, two weeks following the alleged incident, it was mentioned that detectives became doubtful of her claims and the teen later admitted to the lie on Tuesday night.
