DES PLAINES, Ill. — Authorities say three people have died and two were injured in a crash involving two vehicles in suburban Chicago.

Police in Des Plaines say a vehicle carrying four people was attempting to turn on Sunday evening when it was struck by a vehicle carrying one person.

The crash knocked the first vehicle off the road. Police say the three passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were taken to a hospital with injuries.

Names of those involved in the crash weren’t immediately released. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
