Two men shot dead Saturday night at an auto repair shop in the South Lawndale area were among seven people shot between Saturday afternoon and early Sunday.

The men were shot around 5:50 p.m. at 3314 S. Lawndale Ave. near the Little Village neighborhood, about a block north of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, Chicago police said. They were found inside the business.

One of the men was identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Gilberto Casteneda, 56. He was pronounced dead at 6:07 p.m.

The other man, 33, had not yet been identified.

It was quiet and cold at the scene about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. A few bystanders lingered and others watched from windows.

A man who identified himself as a family member of the men killed said the family would not comment.

Police had cordoned off a roughly two-block area, slowing down CTA buses trying to move through the area.

Earlier, another man, identified as 51-year-old Elliott Marshall, was shot and killed while he was driving on Vincennes Avenue in the Longwood Manor neighborhood on the Far South Side.

He was driving north in the 9500 block of Vincennes Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. when another vehicle pulled alongside, and someone opened fire, police said.

Marshall was struck in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene at 4:12 p.m., police said. He lived nearby in the 9100 block of South Aberdeen Street.

Also on Saturday, a 3-year-old accidentally shot a 9-year-old female relative on the West Side. The girl was in good condition at Stroger Hospital after she was shot in the arm around 11:20 a.m. in the 3200 block of West Fulton Boulevard in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

In other shootings:

  • Around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, a 28-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 5400 block of West Adams Street in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said. He was taken to Loretto Hospital where he was stabilized.
  • A 23-year-old man was shot in the leg around 11:20 p.m. Saturday in a gas station lot in the 3000 block of South Halsted Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood on the South Side, police said. He took himself to The University of Illinois Hospital, but was transferred to Stroger Hospital where he was stabilized.
  • Around 3:55 p.m., a 35-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 600 block of North Leamington Avenue in the Austin neighborhood. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was in good condition, police said. He was shot by someone who approached on foot and ran away.
  • A 27-year-old man was shot in the chest and neck in the 900 block of North Richmond Avenue in the city’s Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, according to police. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in critical condition after the 3:50 p.m. attack.
